Animal Assisted Therapy

Organization: Sixtyonethree
Project: Animal assisted therapy
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Target group: Children victims of abuse, children in alternative care

Sixtyonethree supports children who are victims of sexual abuse that often have lost trust for the adult world and finds it difficult to speak about their experiences. Animal assisted therapy (with dogs & horses) is used to establish trust between the child and the therapist and provide the child with a safe environment to interact with another creature in a non-threatening way.
