Ububele Mother-Infant Home visiting project

Organization: The Ububele Educational and Psychotherapy Center
Project: Ububele Mother-Infant Home visiting project
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Target group: Families at risk

The project aims to enhance the mother-infant relationship and security of infant attachment by supporting the mother’s capacity to care for her infant.  Support is provided to mothers at risk in a poor, overcrowded township where crime, violence and abuse are prevalent. Regular home-visits are made by community-based lay women, trained and supervised by Ububele psychologists.
