Network for Protection Program

Organization: Childhood Brazil
Project: Network for Protection Program
Location: Brazil
Target group: Children at risk for abuse

The program strengthens the System to Safeguard Children and Adolescents’ Rights (SSCAR) by qualifying professionals to integrate and effectively protect and assist children and adolescents in sexual violence situations. The SSCAR coordinates and integrates civil society and government public authorities when applying normative rulings and triggering the mechanisms of promotion, defense, and control to make children and adolescents’ rights effective in Federal, State, City, and District levels. The project Laços de Proteção (Protection Ties) is building awareness and qualifying the professionals working for the SSCAR to prevent and report sexual violence situations. The Special Deposition methodology is also implemented in order to educate the Brazilian Judiciary System to qualify professionals in interview techniques to offer children and adolescents a protected and friendly environment for their testimonials instead of the hearing rooms; with the National Council of Justice (CNJ) of Brazil as strategic partner.
