Safe Horizon (New York, NY) is the nation’s leading victim assistance organization and seeks to empower victims to move from crisis to confidence through case management, advocacy, guidance and support. Safe Horizon offers services through 18 programs at more than 50 sites throughout New York City, and its target groups include victims of child abuse, domestic violence, rape and sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes.
Safe Horizon's Post-Forensic-Interview Counseling Sessions aims to develop a trauma-informed, structured protocol to guide a discussion with child victims and with the children's caregivers that will be consistently offered following a child's disclosure of abuse. Forensic Interviews are the cornerstone of a child abuse investigation, effective, child protection and subsequent prosecution; are a gateway to services for the child and family; and may be the beginning of the road toward healing for many children and families.
