Summer Update from Childhood USA

Dear Friends,

Happy 4th of July weekend!

The Childhood USA ThankYou Gala will be held on September 16th at Cipriani’s 42nd Street in NYC.

Summer is here and it is a great time to reflect on the fantastic strides we have made since the new year! But there is so much more we need to do!

Here are some updates:

Programs:

Childhood USA continues to fund and support national and international organizations to prevent, educate and directly serve children and families who are vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. This year, we are funding nine projects in the US, including the addition of Safe Horizon, the largest victim services organization in New York, to our portfolio.

Awareness Building and Advocacy:

This winter we produced three videos on featuring San Francisco projects and I would like to share with you the great work of Peer Health Exchange.

In March, world-renowned basketball player Joakim Noah partnered with Childhood in a video message highlighting the importance of family and local community to act as child protectors.

Special Events:

Daniel Wellington, watch designer and rising star in the fashion industry, hosted a cocktail reception for Childhood at their Soho pop-up store in April. The event raised funds to benefit Childhood’s work.

In June, I was invited to speak at the National Academies of Sciences’ meeting titled, “The Role of Violence Prevention in the Post 2015 Agenda” in Washington DC. It was an opportunity to draw attention to Childhood’s mission, and learn from the leading scientists and practitioners in the field of violence against children.

As part of our engagement in the emerging global and national efforts to end sexual abuse of children, I had the privilege to represent Childhood at:

  • Elevate Children Funders Group

  • Early Childhood Development and Peace Building Consortium

  • GSMA meeting in Barcelona

  • UN World Tourism Organization’s Network on Child Protection in Travel and Tourism

I am proud of what we have accomplished, but we still have so much more to do. Thank you for your continued support, have a great summer and mark your calendars for September 16, 2016.

Wishing you all a happy 4th of July weekend,
