On Thursday, September 24 Childhood USA was honored to hold our first "ThankYou Gala" at New York's Plaza Hotel. The gala was held in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Silvia, founder of the World Childhood Foundation, and nearly 400 guests including Her Excellency, First Lady of Rwanda Jeannette Kagame, HRH Princess Alexandra of Greece, Actress Uma Thurman and more!

The gala allowed Childhood USA to raise over $800,000 in funding for its nine projects in the US and over 100 projects internationally. The night also provided a platform to bestow "Childhood ThankYou Awards" to three champions of children rights. Childhood USA honored Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mrs. Marilyn Carlson Nelson of Carlson Companies and the IKEA Foundation for their accomplishments which has significantly furthered the cause of children’s rights worldwide.

Here are a few of the photos from the night. You can find even more here!

The gala was a great opportunity to honor these great champions for children, to raise awareness about some of the most pressing global challenges, such as the sexual abuse of children, and to mobilize funding for the projects that Childhood supports in the US and internationally. It was also a great platform to launch Princess Madeleine’s innovative campaign “Eyes Wide Open” that aims to educate and engage the public in child protection, and to equip parents, children and youth with tools to prevent, identify, and report child abuse.

Childhood USA would like to thank everyone who made this night possible and for the support of those who attended. The work that Childhood does in the US and abroad would not be possible with our the community of committed partners who believe that everyone deserves a childhood free from abuse, exploitation or harm; one filled with happiness and safety.
