In Poland, the rates of children living in at-risk families are much higher in rural areas than in urban areas. The Child and Families Centres - located in existing municipal institutions - focus on helping at-risk families with young children in rural areas by offering specialized services as well as playgroups and toy libraries for children, parents and grandparents.

Good Parent - Good Start: prevention of child abuse

Project: Good Parent - Good Start: prevention of child abuse
Location: Warsaw, Poland
Target Group: Families at risk

Through early identification of and support to parents at-risk of neglecting or abusing their young children, Good Parent-Good Start helps prevent child abuse. The project improves the competence and coordination of professionals working with young children and their parents. It also offers direct support to parents, such as parenting skills workshops, consultations, video training, holiday camps, and bonding and play groups.
