The project Barnahus in Belarus is based on The Children's Advocacy Center/Barnahus model where children victims of sexual abuse are provided with a wide range of services and expertise concerning child abuse cases. Transforming Childcare in Gomel

Organization: Hope and Homes for Children
Project: Transforming Childcare in Gomel
Location: Gomel, Belarus
Target group: Children in alternative care

The project aims to instigate reform of the childcare system in Gomel by demonstrating that all children can be brought up in a family environment and should not be institutionalized. The strategy is to implement a model by closing an institution and working in partnership with local authorities in the region to introduce integrated social services for children and families. The model will then demonstrate to the national and local government improved outcomes for vulnerable children at a comparable or lower cost.
