Last week, the four Board of Directors of Childhood gathered in Stockholm for its Annual Meeting. This year, a special celebration was taking place in honor of the decade and half ago years since Her Majesty Queen Silvia founded the organization.
On the agenda were smaller and larger meetings, including a gala celebration in the presence of Her Majesty, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria and His Royal Highness Prince Daniel, and Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O’Neill. The gala gathered many longtime and also new supporters, for a night of music and auction entertainment, grossing over 200,000 USD to Childhood’s projects.
Meetings like these are an integral part of Childhood’s work, offering an opportunity to share common progress and map out next steps. Staff held a full day meeting, discussion operational tasks, such as communication, social media, fundraising and project management.
As Childhood is continuing to support children at risk for abuse and exploitation, and the latest initiative ThankYou is integrated into our platforms, cooperation between the four sister foundations is both deepening and expanding; as the external communication about what we do is increasing, the internal collaboration is intensifying in equal measures.
Childhood’s support to projects has a common thread regardless of continent or country. The abuse of children does not stop because of a border or a barrier. The over 100 projects in our portfolio, spread over 17 countries, is a telling metaphor for the prevalence of the abusive treatment of children that is ongoing, unrelenting but unacceptable. Abuse happens everywhere. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We ask for your help to stop the abuse and exploitation of children.
